Hi, I’m Victoria!
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in North Carolina and Virginia and I have been working with individuals, couples, and families since 2011. I received my Master’s of Arts degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Connecticut and my Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology from Virginia Tech.
I have provided therapy in various settings, including online therapy, private practice, community mental health, and hospital programs. I draw from various therapy models to help my clients create changes, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), psychodynamic, systems theory, person centered, and experiential. I enjoy incorporating mindfulness and somatic practices through the course of treatment. I am a certified Mindfulness Meditation teacher after completing a two year program offered by Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach.
My Approach
I create a warm, open, compassionate, patient, and calm space to help you get to the root of your concerns. I will support you in uncovering past experiences and feelings you migt have been suppressing, numbing, or avoiding to create long lasting changes. I have been drawn to clients who feel disconnected from their life, their body, or their feelings. cite having issues with anxiety, feelings of confusion, being stuck, loss of relationships or job or self, clients who no longer know who they are.
You may feel nervous about starting therapy and not know what the source of your discomfort and concerns are. You may want to go back to familiar coping skills like avoidance so you do not have to feel uncomfortable feelings, but then you may remain stuck and frozen. Therapy with me will feel like a warm embrace from a friend full of presence, validation, warmth. It is the thing that you did not know you needed. It is familiar on a soulful level that you are going to heal yourself in the presence and with someone who understands it and supports you.
Our goal will be to explore the various pieces of you and your life then we will increase your awareness of how things came to be and what you would like to change. I am going to ask you some tough questions and we are going to go to difficult spaces. And I will be here, with you, the whole time. Then we are going to identify action items you can do to make the changes you desire and spend time feeling the feelings. Very brave individuals come to therapy to explore and face things within themselves, let’s go there together.
